The theory confronted with the observations

The supernovæ of the Ia type originate in the total dispersion of a star due to a gigantic thermonuclear explosion.

The first model suggested by hoyle1960 implies a binary system made up of dwarf white and a companion transferring to him from the matter. In this broad outline, it is this scenario which today still is the base of the models.

In the continuation, we will explain, after having made some recalls on stellar physics, by which mechanism one can explode a supernovæ of the Ia type. We will detail then the most recent developments of modeling. In particular, we will endeavour to describe the principal possible candidates progéniteurs, the mechanisms of ignition and propagation of the flame and finally we will describe the models of radiative transport during and according to the explosion.
